I'm a single mom of four kids, three of whom still live at home, who works in the educational field. I have a Bachelor Degree in History and a minor in Sociology. I think I chose that subject because I was fascinated with how history is impacted by social structures. I discovered how my life has been shaped in ways I didn't fully understand by the social structure around me and molded by the historical events that seemed removed from my present.
Who I am is someone I am still trying to understand and learn about myself. I suppose that's true for many of us. As we grow as people, our identities often change because our perceptions change. There is no doubt that who I am today is not the person I was when I had my first child and believed that I had all the answers. Motherhood has a way of teaching us that we don't have all the answers. It's messy and unpredictable, but so is life. For the most part, I'm a survivor. I look at each day as an opportunity to grow and to learn. If you are reading this, then I guess you have become part of my journey to learn who I am, and who we are as a people.
